Coffee filter art project consists of using different types of materials to draw on the filter than using water or watercolor paints to go over it. This helps the colors bleed but wherever crayon or wax is it wont cover. You can use crayon, marker, oil pastel, water color crayons, along with water color. This project is very versatile and can make whatever you want with it.
One extension idea I thought of was making lions with a class. Having students use crayon or oil pastel to draw a face in the middle. Then students can paint or color using warm colors. After it drys students will cut slits all around the circle to make the lions main.
